Transit of Venus

The long-awaited event arrived today.
We counted down to the "ingress" and then bolted outside
to use our special glasses.
Oh no! Clouds!
Boo!!! We couldn't see anything!
Even when the clouds disappeared we struggled to view anything.
So back inside we went and watched it
live on the internet.

"Aotearoa 1" arrives in Gisborne

Today I was out and about and saw the Aotearoa 1 tied up in the harbour. People were ready to go sailing on it.
So I grabbed my camera and raced to the beach and got a few shots of the waka heading out into the bay.
What a sight!
Can't wait for our turn on Thursday.
