12 artists worked with 2 tutors to create this mural.
It will hang on the end of Room 1 for us all to see.
See if you can find Q Bear...he is hiding all over the place.
A big thank you to Miss Lewis and Mrs Langford for tutoring this group of artists.

Paralympian Visitor

If we won the photo competition and could have a Paralympian visit us,
who would you choose and why? Complete the online survey below by clicking on the link

.

Darryl Fitzgerald

Darryl spoke to the Senior Syndicate today at their assembly.
We had lots of questions for him.
Luke got to wear the cool glasses, accreditation lanyard and GPS watch.
Cleveland held up Darryl's competition uniform.
Cleveland wanted to know how to put it on...it looks really small and tight and there's no zips.

Awapuni School's own Olympian

During the Olympic Games we discovered that one of our NZ Olympians went to Awapuni School.
He is coming to talk to us today at Senior Syndicate Assembly.
What questions do you have for him?
Here is his class photo when he was in Room 1 in 2001

13 medals at the Paralympics

We have 13 medals.
This equals the Olympic Games tally.
Will we get any more?

Wheelchair Jump Jam with Ruben

Everyone in Room 2 has a day on the wheelchair
in term 3.
We are doing this while we follow the Olympic and
Paralympic Games this term.
Here is Ruben doing Jump Jam on his day in the wheelchair.
He was able to move forward and backwards and clap all the while
staying in time to the music.
Ka pai Ruben!

Sitting Volleyball

One of the games at the Paralympics is Sitting Volleyball.
We had a go at it - only difference was we used
balloons instead of a ball.
It was fun - but those balloons don't
go where you want them too.
Karsen has his eye on the balloon.

Paralympics are here

Room 2 are following the Paralympic Games closely.
We have been having turns in the wheelchair each day this term. Everyone that's had a turn says it's hard work.
Ruben was the best at Jump Jam in the wheelchair. He could keep moving like the other kids and do the hand claps in time too!
