On Thursday Room 2 student challenged themselves to fear factor. 

The morning was a huge success!

On Wednesday 10 girls from the Senior syndicate represented Awapuni School in a Rugby Tournament at Te Wharau School.

We came out second overall.
The girls had an amazing day and represented the School with great pride.

This morning Room 2 went out and choose a tree in the forest to draw.
They had to look closely at the tree's detail and think about giving it human like qualities ready for their writing tomorrow.

Touch training

Touch players from Room 2 came out at lunchtime to help their younger peers learn about Touch Rugby.

Today Room 2 got the privilege of doing Zumba with the junior syndicate.

Healthy eating in Room 2

Yesterday Room 2 did an experiment to see how much FAT is in the foods we eat.

We discussed the difference between good fats and bad fats.

Room 2 also decided we would discover how long it would take a cheeseburger and chips to grow mould compeared  to an apple and Banana.

Our guess was 7 weeks for a cheeseburger and chip.

3 weeks for an apple and banana.

Tree Planting 2014

Today at Awapuni School the new Forest began to develop,

All the students at School got to experience planting trees.

When boys high choir came to visit

Boys high choir came and visited school a couple of weeks ago,

They are excellent role models for all students

We greatly appreciate them coming and sharing their amazing voices with our school.

Reflection of Week 3

Room 2 spent time in the Garden in week 3,in the Garden we discovered that there were vegetables that were ready to be used. 
Room 2 made muffins on Friday using the vegetables from the Garden, then they wrote an explanation piece of writing about "How muffins rise"

Welcome back

Welcome back to school everyone, I hope you have all had an enjoyable break.

I am sure you have all heard by now about Room 2's 100 book challenge happening this term, if you get asked to sign one of the students books please ensure to question them about what they have read.

Space is our focus this term. So far Room 2 has been enjoying this terms learning.

This term is another busy term of learning so let's encourage each other and keep focused on all of our learning.

I would also like to give my warm welcome to Sia and her family who have just joined Awapuni School, Sia is now a member of Room 2.

The winners of 2014 Rippa Rugby are the 2014 Gold Rugger Cup Champions.

We also won the Red Cup.
Thank you to Dwayne for doing an outstanding job coaching and also to all the parents who managed to make it down and support the team.

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to BRANDIE and KASEY for getting the top female and top male player of the tournament for  fair player and dedication.

You had excellent fair play and played as a team. Keep up the excellent work ready for our trip to play and meet the ALL BLACKS!!!!

Week 3 Term 2

Kia Ora,

Well week 3 is already over and we are now heading into week 4.

Last week was a busy week in Room 2, Monday we had our town library visit, Tuesday we had our snail race, Wednesday I (Miss Wallis) was out on a course, Thursday we had our games afternoon and Friday we had our school book parade and buddy reading with Room 11.We also welcomed Sophie.B into our classroom on Monday, from the moment the bell went on Monday morning she has worked hard. Welcome again Sophie I hope you enjoy your time at Awapuni School.

Week 4 is going to be another busy week in Room 2.

Tuesday we have our school library visit and Friday this week we are going to do a 'create a gadget day' so please keep sending any cleaned recycling you have at home for your child to use to create their gadget. 

Unfortunately I have been seeing a reoccurring pattern of some students not doing their home learning each night. Remember the only way you can get better at anything is through  "practice practice practice"...So please ensure your child is doing home learning or they maybe asked to do it before school or at the beginning of lunchtimes if this continues to be a pattern.

I have spent some time in Room 2 over the weekend sticking up our word math problems that we created on Friday so please come in and see how many you can solve.

Art Term One

Learning in Week 1 of Term 2

Room 2 had an excellent start to the term last week in their learning.
We have started to think about "Whats in our school Garden" with a focus of "Living Creatures".
For the first 5 weeks we are focusing on Volume and Capacity in maths which is going to be exciting.

On Friday last week we were very busy in Room 2 as we started our buddy reading with Room 11 along with exploring some new math games.

Week 2 is a short week this week but never the less we have lots of learning planned.
Please make sure everyone does their home learning each night and bringing home learning books back on a Friday.
