Athletics Day!
Room 2 were involved in the Senior Syndicate Athletics Day on Friday. We had so much fun and there was lots of 'positive-ity' floating around... Every single person in Room 2 gave every racing event a go, and - most importantly - everyone had fun!
Miss G was really impressed with how well we all managed ourselves and supported one-another. It was a very windy day and we worked with teachers to make sure that the morning worked as well as possible - and it did!

Making Murals!
In the last week of Term 3, we dedicated our time to re-creating 2 of the many murals that Awapuni School spent 'sprucing up' for years to come...
One of our murals was to reflect the story of Rangi and Papa - Miss G read us the story of Rangi and Papa and asked each of us to design an image that we thought best illustrated the legend. We have been learning a lot about warm and cool colours and using patterns to create an abstract image, so we all had lots of ideas to use...! We finally voted on our favourite; we used Kaea's picture as our display for that particular mural.
The other mural shows our school logo and also has our three Kinds of Best written in Te Reo Maori. Thank you so much to Haley - Morgans' mum - for her time and love that she put into cutting out each of the letters for us!!!!
And would you believe it... Miss G didn't touch either of the murals - except to trace the logo from the Interactive Whiteboard, and to grid the mural into even squares... !!

Eastwood Hill Visit
Room 2 joined the Senior Syndicate in visiting Eastwood Hill on Monday!
We got to explore the shapes and vein structures of leaves, we learned about the history of Eastwood Hill and took away some very interesting facts, and we also got to do some orienteering and tried to find all the 'Stars of the Park' (different trees).
Miss G had a lovely day, too, and it was all thanks to Room 2 following our Class Treaty right throughout the day - we were respectful, we made good choices, and we certainly tried our best! What a great day...

That's a 'One' ???
In Room 2, we have been using deci-pipes to understand the relationship between tenths, hundredths, and a whole! We are all starting to understanding why a hundredth is called a 'hundredth' (because 100 fit into a whole!) and the same with tenths.
We have been using the deci-pipes to measure objects around Room 2 and the school, and have been learning to record our thinking in fractions. We are even challenging ourselves by estimating the measurement of objects as a fraction before finding out the exact measurement with the deci-pipes!

Museum Visit!
Room 2 went to the museum this week to learn a little about Tuataras (New Zealand native reptile), which connected really well with what we have been learning about conservation and endangered and threatened species ~ the Tuatara is threatened...
We also got to create a piece of art of a camouflaged Tuatara! Fun :-)
